SALUBRE BEEF'S PURE AND MIXED BREEDS

At Salubre we know our beef loving customers love choice and we’ve delivered.

At Salubre Beef’s core is the pure wagyu herd, bred from David Blackmore’s famous Australian wagyu progeny. Alongside pure wagyu roam Wagyu – Angus (Wangus) and Wagyu – Hereford (Wagford) cross breeds. The farm also producers pure Hereford cattle sourced from a local Hereford breeder just down the road in the Kenepuru Sounds.

Each breed is unique and offers beef lovers individual flavour and taste nuances in exactly the same way wine varieties do. Just as all red wines do not taste the same, neither does all beef. Terroir, breed, farming system, and many other factors all contribute to the unique offering from each breed. To help you decide which flavour of beef will appeal to your tastebuds, below are our tasting notes, which have taken many Manuka fired barbies to provide!

Wagyu

The famous Australian Chef Neil Perry from Rockpool Group had this to say, “David Blackmore’s Full-blood Wagyu is light-years ahead of any other wagyu product in Australia. It is beyond good”.

Why Wagyu? Simple…to spoil yourself or the ones you love. Wagyu is highly marbled and delivers an intense flavour often described as caramel and buttery. The meat is deliciously sweet and incredibly tender. Full-blood wagyu offers the beef lover an unrivalled eating experience.

Wangus

Bordeaux, one of the world’s most famous and sought after red wines is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. At Salubre Beef, one of the most exciting experiments has been derived from cross-breeding Wagyu and Angus.

Wangus provides the tenderness of Wagyu with the exceptional eating qualities of Angus. It is perfect for someone who wants to experience tenderness but wants a more traditional flavoured beef experience.

Hereford

Delicate, fine grained, and absolutely delicious is how Salubre Hereford has been described. Seriously good. Salubre Hereford is an excellent all rounder. It’s a jack of all trades and a master of most.

When you crave a seared, sizzling, steak packed with flavour, incredible sausages, or the perfect ground beef for burgers, Salubre Hereford should be your go-to.

Angus

Angus, or more correctly Aberdeen Angus, originated in Scotland. It is a smaller animal, ideally suited to hill country and absolutely suited to the plates of beef lovers. Widely considered one of the most prized breeds of cattle, it offers premium quality beef with amazing texture and taste.

Salubre’s Angus is of course 100% grass-fed and raised regeneratively on diverse pastures to ensure optimal health, a happy life, and ultimately a fantastic eating experience.
